Du som lyssnar på det här hör ett talsyntesavsnitt från själva textbloggen i weconverse. Den som skrivit texten är Richard Gatarski, men jag som pratar är alltså en maskin - en slags robot. Vem är jag, skribenten eller rösten? Läskigt va?
I tisdags träffade jag, det vill säga Richard, som hastigast Daniel Erkstam på ReadSpeaker. Han är affärsutvecklare på detta Uppsalabaserade företag som är experter på talsyntes, det vill säga att automatiskt konvertera text till tal. Dom har många olika lösningar, och tillhör sedan länge dom världsledande företagen som exempelvis ser till att man kan lyssna på webbsidor. För inte alltför länge sedan började ReadSpeaker också leverera lösningar för att automatiskt göra podcasts av bloggar. Jag stötte på deras produkt första gången när 24timmarsbloggen började använda deras tjänst. Daniel upplyste mig om att man nu minsann kan göra detta gratis (på sikt annonsfinansierat) genom deras samarbete med AudioFeed Creator. För närvarande klarar den av att syntetisera text på Franska, Engelska och naturligtvis Svenska.
Så från och med nu kan du lyssna på det som skrivs här i bloggen. Sedan några månader publicerar vi dessutom weconverse pod, det vill säga unika ljudprogram som handlar om kraften i oss - och teknikutvecklingen. Today at the Podcamp Europe conference I had a session about what our society might need in the social media future. The title of my presentation was “Public service 2.0? re-thinking an old idea for the new media sphere.” At the conference’s wiki I also created a special page introducing my idea to open up a conversation about the subject. Around 10 persons showed up and I think it turned out to be an interesting event with good questions. Because I am unsure about that wiki’s future, I am publishing my slides (pdf) and a recording of my talk and our discussion here at weconverse. Please feel free to add your thoughts and comments. And special thanks to you who showed up and shared your thoughts.
My gig for MAPP group ended with this 31 minute conversation. As promised, here is a link to MAG Cultures (in French) that Stefan mentioned, as well as another link to The Long Tail. Ian brought up the importance of referals/recommendations and therefore I cannot resist linking to The Ultimate Question (Swedes might also enjoy listening to QritiQ 004: The One Number, a conversation based on Reichheld’s earlier work).
We all went to school to learn. We all live and learn while doing it. And doing things, whenever you can, is a great and fun way to learn. And it is hard to gain true understanding if you cannot practice what you have learned. This includes the use of media, technology, and (new) social behavior. Hence, if someone stops you from doing things, such as using a particular blog tool, then you cannot learn about that.
In the excellent podcast For Immediate Release, episode 238, hosts Neville Hobson and Shel Holtz discusses to what extent, how, and why organizations IT deparments decide to limit the use of Information Technology. Today I e-mailed them an audio comment with my personal experiences and thoughts around that issue. In the comment I provide examples from Ericsson, Volvo Group, AstraZeneca, and many more organizations. (I will publish it here later on, but FiR should have the opportunity to use it first. I owe them more than that because of all the things I have learned from them. Also, links to my blog and wiki assignments at the Krakow University mentioned in the comment).
Here is my main point: Various measures to control access to IT is an alarming issue for the organizations who have not yet understood the consequences of their current security measures. These might stop outsiders getting access to internal systems, and keep insiders away from what might look as non-work-related stuff. But in the long run the result is an organization full of members who neither know what is going on, nor get the chance to develop knowledge and skills concerning media development and new social patterns. On the small side, the security walls is also a problem for me as a professional presenter and teacher. Same thing goes for Neville and Shel.

[Update 2007-05-28] Whow! FiR included my comment immediately in its 243:rd episode (1h:03m:30s in). Hosts Neville Hobson and Sallie Goetsch added some superb remarks. Neville also suggested that instead of only discuss bad cases (as I did) we should converse about the good ones. As a result I am publishing a weconverse pod episode here with an excerpt from the FiR show with my comment. I did also add the example of Best Western Sweden, where visitors and guests at their hotels have free WiFi access to the Internet as of April this year (more info in Swedish).

Idag giggade jag för Socialstyrelsen och spelade in den efterföljande konversationen. Det blev ett 38 minuters mycket intressant samtal, som du finner här i helt oredigerat format.
På vägen till dagens gig för Mindshare lyssnade jag på senaste avsnittet av poddsändningen TWiT (this WEEK in TECH). Precis innan jag pausade (40 minuter in i programmet) började dom (Leo Laporte, Merlin Mann, Craig Syverson, Kevin Gamble och Jeff Mcpherson prata om “att finnas i Wikipedia”. Otroligt intressant! Lyssna här själv på några klipp och kommentarer från mig, i det som blir andra avsnittet i weconverse pod (när alla tekniska bitar kommer på plats). Se även det aktuella uppslagsordet i Wikipedia - om det finns kvar. Jag passar helt fräckt på att också pusha för podcasten QritiQ - hörpunkter om den sköna konsten marknadsföring, vars format delvis inspirerats av TWiT - utan jämförelse i övrigt.
[uppdaterad] Idag ledde jag tillsammans med Alexander Mason och Anna Kågedal seminariet Bloggosfären i ett medieperspektiv. Vi höll på cirka en timme och det var en del av Mötesplats Observer 2007.
